State Representative Dave Vella Celebrates 1,500 Jobs Returning as New Pickup Truck Production is Set for Belvidere Workers and the UAW

Belvidere, Illinois–For the past several years, State Representative Dave Vella has been a steadfast advocate for Belvidere and its workers in the fight to bring jobs back to the region. Two years ago, after rigorous and fair contract negotiations,Stellantis and the UAW reached an agreement to bring production back to Belvidere. Since then, workers have remained united and committed, holding Stellantis accountable to the promises made.

Today, that commitment has paid off, as Stellantis and the UAW administration proudly announce that a new midsize pickup truck will be produced in Belvidere, bringing 1,500 jobs back to the region. This is a significant step forward for the local economy, the workers, and the entire community as Belvidere continues its journey toward a prosperous future.

Here’s what Representative Vella has to say: “ After years of bipartisan work by the City of Belvidere, the UAW, the State of Illinois, and the Federal government, we will be making cars in Belvidere again. 1500 new jobs, not to mention all of the construction and support work. This is great news for the men and women of the Stateline who have been waiting too long to get back to work. We have the best auto workers in the world here. I am proud to have lended my efforts to this project, and look forward to the days ahead.”
