State Representative Dave Vella is Hosting a FREE Super Shred & Recycling Day With Help From Trusted Local Community Partners
ROCKFORD – State Rep Dave Vella has made constituent service a priority in the Illinois 68th District since elected in 2021. Through community outreach and effective assistance, Rep. Vella has heard the need for safe shred and recycling services. He has hosted shred day events previously; providing a safe place for residents to dispose of confidential paper documents and safely recycle other items. During the drive-through event, residents can recycle surplus items to be safely discarded by trusted community partners. “We all have stuff to discard. Bringing these groups together in one place makes it easier for people from the Stateline to do just that. Helping people live a better life is my goal and I am happy to provide this free service to our residents to help make that happen,” says Vella.
Items to be accepted:
Unwanted paper documents: To be safely shredded by KNIB.
Medication: To be safely sorted and discarded by Rockford Police, UW Health, and the UIC College of Medicine of Rockford.
Eyeglasses: To be recycled, refurbished, and donated by Loves Park Lions Club.
Retired Flags: To be respectfully retired by Boy Scouts of America, Blackhawk Area Council.
Gently-used Baby Items (Strollers, clothes, new diapers): To be collected by the Boone County Maternal Child Health Council and donated to The Baby Bank
Cell-phones: To be recycled and refurbished for survivors of domestic violence by KNIB.
