Rockford, Illinois–State Representative Dave Vella calls on Stellantis to bring vehicle production back to Belvidere this year. He calls on them to put the UAW members, who have been waiting, back to work. This is what the company agreed to and what Belvidere has earned. Two years ago Stellantis and the UAW, after a vigorous and fair contract negotiation, agreed to bring production back to Belvidere. Based on this agreement, people put their lives on hold waiting for their jobs to be returned to them. The people of Belvidere have been working and waiting for Stellantis for far too long.
“It is time for Stellantis to simply do what it promised,” said State Representative Dave Vella. “The workers in the Belvidere plant are up for any job that you give them.” Over the last years, Federal, State, County and Municipal officials along with the UAW and local citizens have done everything that was asked of them to make sure that any concerns that the company had about this agreement were addressed. The location of the plant is ideal for the American Market and the Belvidere UAW members are second to none. There are no excuses. “I stand ready to do whatever I need to to make sure that the Belvidere plant gets back to work. It is time for Stellantis to keep their promise.”
